California Beauty College received the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds (HEERF) funded by the Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act, which was passed by Congress and signed into law in March 2020, on May 26, 2020..
The CARES Act money was distributed to students that met certain requirements on May 26, 2020. These funds were used to assist eligible students who are facing financial challenges due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
California Beauty College has signed and returned to the U.S. Department of Education the Funding Certification and Agreement, and an assurance that it intends to use no less than 50% of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.
The funds are intended to alleviate emergency needs in food, housing, technology access, course materials, health care, and child care related to the pandemic.
Pursuant to its Certification and Agreement, California Beauty College received from the USDE a total of $33,710.00 in Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students. This amount was equally divided among eligible students on May 26, 2020..
Thirty-nine (39) students received the Emergency Financial Aid Grants under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.
Eligible Students
Only students who are or could be eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended (HEA), received emergency financial aid grants. If a student had filed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), then the student has demonstrated eligibility to participate in programs under Section 484 the HEA. Students who have not filed a FAFSA but who are eligible to file a FAFSA also received emergency financial aid grants. The criteria to participate in programs under Section 484 of the HEA include but are not limited to the following: U.S. citizenship or eligible noncitizen; a valid Social Security number; registration with Selective Service (if the student is male); and a high school diploma, GED, or completion of high school in an approved homeschool setting.
